What did you do this past week?

Last week I finished up the Integer project and started learning how to play the Ukulele. It’s been fun so far, but I cant quite get the strumming down. I’ve been working on the Deque project, but am a bit lost so I will likely have to take an extension.

What’s in your way?

School, family obligation, sloth, and the existential crisis of making progress in my life. However, I can push through and will make get the tasks I need to do complete.

What will you do next week?

Next week will involve a lot of studying, reading, reflecting, and growing. I want to be able to play a song correctly by next week. I also want to be able to learn new skills like singing and poetry. My goal is to improve myself in ways that make me happy along with getting my obligation and work done.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #7: What Happens to Us?

I thought this paper was very insightful and important in understanding some of the situation which women in computer science experience through their time in the field, due to the lack of consideration from the opposite gender. I wish people would just treat others with respect despite their race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

What was your experience of vector, allocator, and deque? (this question will vary, week to week)

I think I have a good understanding of the differences between these types of containers in c++ and the basics of how to implement them. The difficulty comes in when actually making a Deque as there are small edge cases and considerations that need to be made which do not appear on a surface level.

What made you happy this week?

Life, music, friends, and family. Getting a E on the Integer project for getting 5/5 on it. I have a good friend who is excellent at music who is teaching me what he knows which makes it a lot easier.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

For my personal pick of the week, get a Sit/Stand desk! Your back will thank you I promise. I bought one and I use it to force myself to sit or stand. It has really make a positive impact on my back and my physical wellbeing especially for someone who sits on their computer most of the day.
