CS371g Summer 2021: Albin Shrestha
Hello my name is Albin Shrestha and I am currently a student at the University of Texas at Austin. I am writing this blog as a part of my CS371g: Generic Programing class. I currently live in Fort Worth, Texas but am planning on moving back to Austin next semester.

- Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Nepal a small country located between India and China where Mount Everest is located.
- What high school did you attend?
I attended Fossil Ridge High School.
- What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?
I love playing Video Games and tennis.
- Why did you come to UT?
I came to UT to expand my knowledge and grow as a person. I know the quality of education provided at UT is amazing.
- Why are you majoring in CS?
I want a career where I can travel the world and see what there is to see. With CS I can work remote and independently if I would like so it is a very good option for me. Plus I find coding fun.
- Why are you in this class?
I want to learn and gain better understanding of C++ and gain knowledge so I can get into completive programming.
- What are your expectations of this class?
I expect this class to be difficult but forgiving. I expect to learn a great deal in this class about the quirks of C++. I also want to get better suited with Hacker Rank and improve myself for upcoming job interviews.
- How much C++ do you already know?
I know a bit of C++ but not nearly enough to call me proficient.
- How much Javascript/Python/SQL/Web programming do you already know?
I feel like I am proficient in JavaScript namely React. I am not super experienced with Python.
- How did you like the first lecture?
The first lecture was great. It was straight to the point and the professor set clear expectation for the class.
- How did you feel about the cold calling?
I don’t mind it. It makes me nervous but it keeps me engaged.
- What made you happy this week?
Not much actually this has been a very rough week for me emotionally. I’m hurt, feel betrayed, etc. I know I can pick myself up from this situation but its going to be rough.
- What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
VSCode is a God Send. Seriously it has everything someone would need as a programmer. The community extensions are amazing and it supports almost all languages. I personally love turning on the auto format on save option as it keeps my code looking nice and clean.
