CS371g Summer 2021: Albin Shrestha
What did you do this past week?
This past week was very chill for me. I’ve been working on things that make me happy and fulfilled. I made my room super nice and have been practicing my driving. I worked with my partner Shaharyar on the Netflix project and that took up a good part of my week.
What’s in your way?
Nothing, I feel like I’m finally returning to normal or as normal as I can get. I’ve been happy with myself and who I am. So now I just need to put this energy into my work and school.
What will you do next week?
For next week the first thing I need to do is find a partner for the next project. After that I have a big IOS project outline that I need to work with my group on. I want get my work back on track and get everything back on track.
If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #: Twice as Good?
This paper made a lot of reasonable and interesting points. We need more diversity in the workforce and in computer science especially. I took an Ethics course last summer and it opened my eyes to many of the ways our previous biases impact how we think and treat other people.
What was your experience of exceptions, consts, algorithms, and iterators? (this question will vary, week to week)
I had very little experience with any of these topics before taking this class so this was all new to me, but I believe that Professor downing did a great job explaining these topics to the class and so I believe I understand them. These concepts are very important in the CS field so I’m glad I learned about them before I graduate.
What made you happy this week?
Completing the Netflix project! My partner and I spent a great deal of time working on that project so I was very relieving getting the project completed and turned in on time. Another thing that made me happy was music. I’ve been really getting in songs I used to listen to as a kid such as Panic! at the Disco, All Time Low, My Chemical Romance, etc. It brings me back to my childhood, plus the songs are bops.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick of the week is a Raspberry Pi. The Pi is a small single board computer with some amazing capabilities. I have been messing with my Pi for a while and have learned a great deal about ARM through it. Additionally, it makes a great emulation device for SNES, GameBoy, Sega Genesis, etc.
